F.E.F.W – For Everyone With Worries

Here’s what we do and how we can help you.

Equine Facilitated Learning

This involves carrying out ground work exercises, with the horse, in order to learn about yourself and to be in the moment. These exercises can be devised by you, or us, based on your requirements. Maybe you need more self confidence or self-esteem, or perhaps you want to work through issues you have with communication or resilience. The obstacles in the exercises represent challenges you might face in real life, but negotiating them with the horse encourages team work and trust. It can also be a lot of fun!

Initial meeting is free

Subsequent prices will be based on the nature of the experience.

Horse Care and Stable Management

If you are thinking of buying your own horse in the future, and want to learn the basics before you take one on, we can offer you tuition in feeding, grooming, fitness and maintenance in a relaxed and peaceful setting. Learn about the different requirements of horses and ponies and how their needs change according to the time of year and the weather. Come for an hour and learn an aspect of horse care – such as how to groom – or stay for longer and learn the typical daily routine of looking after a horse or pony. All our horse care tuition is based around individual requirements and prior experience.

Practical Experience for Animal Care Courses

If you need to boost your knowledge and understanding of animal care, we can offer you practical experience of managing a small-holding, including looking after pasture, fencing, general maintenance and the different requirements across the seasons. Again, all of this can be based around individual requirements.

General Wellbeing and Tailored Activities

If what you need is to spend time with our horses, connecting with them in the moment, in a peaceful and relaxed setting, then that can easily be arranged and you would be very welcome.

Corporate Training or Teambuilding Days

We also offer team building activities that are fun, and which provide an opportunity to spend a day connecting with your team.

But don’t just take our word for it, this is what the education team at Adel Beck Secure Children’s Home had to say about their teambuilding day:

‘Fabulous experience, carefully planned and really great fun too.  Everyone has relaxed and enjoyed being with the horses. (G – Headteacher)

‘Really enjoyed the day! Great activities, well thought out. Thank you.’ (J – HLTA)

‘Great day and experience, loved the treasure hunt, leading the Shetland and trying to find Sherlock the cat!’ (I – Deputy Headteacher)

‘Had fun with everyone.  The horses were brilliant and well behaved! (B – Teacher)

Our teambuilding activities are designed to:

  • Challenge – for many people this will be the first time they have ever been near a horse, let alone led one round an obstacle course.
  • Boost morale – teams are pitted against each other in mini competitions, with everyone in with a chance of winning a prize.
  • Bolster team performance as colleagues can return to work with a shared positive experience and, overall,
  • Be fun!

Just some of the team building activities we offer:

Shetland Neigh-vigation

Race against the clock to negotiate a range of obstacles, just you, your teammates, and… two or three Shetland ponies. An exciting mix of challenges and teamwork, this activity is invigorating and great fun. Can the most daring member of your team complete the final challenge and reduce your overall time?

Tack-ling a Problem

Use teamwork and problem-solving skills to reconstruct a bridle, with only a picture as a guide.  This is a challenge for the most cohesive and organised team as only the fastest and the most accurate will win.

Game of Throws

A good old-fashioned game of horseshoes…except you are against the clock and the other teams, to get the most horseshoes round the spike. Will it be the most competitive team that wins?  Or the team with the best strategy?

Herd Mentality

The ultimate teamwork challenge as you incorporate a new team member:  Dylan the horse. Act as part of Dylan’s herd and work with him to recreate how horses move together, using only body language and without making a sound. How far round the course will you get?

‘Treasure’ Hunt

Armed only with a checklist and basic directions, set off on a journey of discovery and achieve victory with your team by identifying the most items from the local environment. Stroll or race, it’s up to you and your team, but keep an eye out for Sherlock, the ginger and white cat…there is a bonus point if you can spot him!

We are happy to customise the day to reflect the unique needs of your team.

There are prizes for the winning team in each activity and for the overall champions of the day.

Light refreshments are provided on the day; participants will need to either bring a packed lunch or there are two pubs within walking distance who serve food.
